Mayantha is a member of Parliament of the Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka. Currently is the Chairman & head of the SJB Youth Wing, Samagi Tharuna Balawegaya. He is also the son of late politician and presidential candidate Mr. Gamini Dissanayake.
Mr. Gamini Dissanayake.
Mayantha Dissanayake received his primary education from Royal College, Colombo and later went on to pursue his undergraduate in economics from the School of London, United Kingdom.
After attending Royal College and St. Thomas’ Preparatory School, he completed his education at Rugby School in England. Later, he pursued his childhood passion of becoming a Printer and earned his degree from the world renowned Rochester Institute of Technology in the United States and the London College of Printing & Distributive Trades in London, England.
However, from the time of his birth, he grew up immersed in a overwhelmingly political household. Social service and civic responsibility was an essential fabric at the core of both his family. For his father – Mr. Gamini Dissanayake, helping society and developing the country was not just a wish but a necessity. He felt that politics was the best platform from which to serve his country and its people. For him, politics was noble. He wanted to do it with integrity and honesty. His father’s idealism and hope he carried for this country ran in Mayantha’s veins as well.
From a young age, his father instilled in him that Mayantha needs to serve his country and its people. This got him into thinking that he needs to serve this country. And like his father before him, he knew that politics was the best platform from which to do this.
